A request to allow a rehabilitation center in Algodones was tabled Thursday night by the Sandoval County Planning and Zoning Commission after several residents expressed safety concerns about the proposed 10-bed facility.
County officials warned the commission it could not vote against the facility simply based on residential concerns because it would violate federal protections. But county attorney David Mathews and development director Mike Springfield testified the commission could place conditions on its approval, and the board came up with several after more than two hours of public discussion.
