A standing room only crowd of more than 200 people jammed the Enchanted Hills Elementary School o ask city officials and engineers about Speccial Assessment District 7, a $70 million flood control project that cold cost property owners an aveerage of more than $13,000 each.
The meeting offered a preview of Wednesday's city council meeting, which has been adverttised among opponents and proponents of the SAD as a major meeting in the process.
Mayor Mike Williams said Tuesday night that speakers would be limited to ttwo minutes instead of he normal three, but he would not put an overall time limit on the public and that eeryone who signs up will be given an opporunity to speak. That means that if everyone who attended Tuesday's Chamiza Estates Neighborhood Association meeting got up to speak at Wednesday's council meeting, the public time on that issue alone would be close to four hours, given the lag time between speakers.
