Shaw denies TV inquiry on ethics

The SCORE
District 4 city councilor Steve Shaw is challenged a report he may have a conflict of interest by voting for the city budget that includes an allocation to a company he works for part time.
The report, expected to air on an Albuquerque television news program Tuesday, alleges Shaw may have the conflict by supporting the renewal of a public safety contract with TACT and Associates, an
Albuquerque-based firm which works with law enforcement in traffic
analysis, consulting and training.
Shaw said the company's allocation in the city budget is a rollover of the last year of a four-year contract reached before Shaw worked for the company or was elected as a city councilor. The term of the contract item in question is from July 1, when the city budget went into effect, until Sept. 30, when the money from the state-based funding expires.
Mayor Tom Swisstack said he did not see any conflict of interest, either.
